Principles
|
- Awareness / Alertness
- Self Defence is about awareness. Is about the pre-contact phase.
Is about making the best tactical decision in a given situation.
- Aggressiveness / Coolness
- One of the most difficult things to accomplish is to relax under severe pressure. Controlled aggressiveness is a term that can come close to describing the desired psychological mind set in an altercation.
- Interception
- Intercept the attack. Do not block, try to deflect or destroy the attack. Use footwork. Surprise them.
- Speed
- OODA - observe, orientate, decide and act fast.
- Disruption
- Multiple, almost simultaneous hits in the upper and lower level, short-circuit the opponent's mind. Disruption of his balance makes the assailant unable to act.
- Adhesion / Stickiness
- Sensitivity training, for better positioning and identification of the opponent's weaknesses.
- Target focus
- Try to hit at places that matter.
